We all know that people with mental illness get arrested more than those without mental illness, they get incarcerated more than others, they serve longer sentences, and once let out, they return more frequently than the population at large. That’s why NAMI NC is working with other agencies to sponsor a very exciting two day conference on Decriminalization, right after Thanksgiving, right in Raleigh at the McKimmon Center.
Our audience is broad- we want to appeal to families and consumers, to law enforcement professionals, to provider agencies and mental health professionals, and to change agents in policy positions or in the General Assembly.
