NAMI NC Strategic Plan 2006-2011
EDUCATION COMMITTEE GOAL ONE: Enhance NAMI NC's visibility. GOAL TWO: Renew and expand existing programs and build new ones. GOAL THREE: Partnering with Affiliates, facilitate direct-to-Affiliate support and development. GOAL FOUR: Strengthen NAMI NC's advocacy involvement in State Reform (Systems Transformation). GOAL FIVE: Secure the fiscal capacity to support all the goals of the strategic plan.
Education Committee, Five-Year Plan, 2006-2011 Implement a MIAW or Mental Health Month activity in every affiliate Expand NAMI on Campus. Include Affiliate development workshops and networking/sharing opportunities at Regional Meetings. Examine and make a recommendation for directly billable services.
Re-evaluate the plan for regionalization of NAMI NC programs and services to determine and recommend appropriate expansion and/or continuation. Update and distribute Affiliate Toolkit.
Re-evaluate the Helpline and make recommendations for improvement.
Re-evaluate the Young Families program with the intent of expanding programs and services to better serve children and adolescents. Offer other direct-to-Affiliate technical assistance and networking opportunities outside of Regional Meetings.
Education Committee, One-Year Objectives, 2006-07 Assess program needs and prioritize plans for growth and development of NAMI NC Programs Develop a technical assistance plan (skill kits) for local affiliates of programs that can be replicated locally to assist them in cultivating relationships within their communities; i.e. Walking With Mental Illness, Coalition 2001 model for local involvement, Breaking the Silence Curriculum (NY), Advocacy Training for Affiliates Make decision whether NAMI NC is going to be a beggar or a seller
Recommend policy and provide guidance for the planning, implementation, quality assurance, and evaluation of NAMI NC Programs, including Family-to-Family, Young Families, In Our Own Voice, Helpline, Annual Conference, and Regional Institutes
Examine and implement IOOV in one year
Identify who needs us (whether they know it or not), target market, returning veterans, elderly in nursing homes or senior centers, local decision-makers (city council, commissioners), college students and families with young children
Develop a plan for responding to the needs of those identified
Identify the most productive year to date in each program (number of participants, number of programs taught) and set benchmarks for the future
Develop a plan to strengthen the link between education programs and support groups after classes end; possibly expanding support groups
Education Committee, One-Year Work Plan, 2006-07 Annual Conference sessions: needs and issues for veterans, especially those returning from the Middle East; needs and issues for children in the foster care system
Recommend policy and provide guidance for the planning, implementation, quality assurance, and evaluation of NAMI NC Programs, including Family-to-Family, Young Families, In Our Own Voice, Helpline, Annual Conference, and Regional Institutes (question asked - why is YF only being done in the same locations?)
