NAMI NC Think Tank/Roundtable October 26, 2007

I want to share with all of you some important advocacy work completed through the leadership of NAMI NC.  We worked with a group of l9 individuals – stakeholders of all types- to come up with a vision of how to improve reform, and what action steps to take immediately to improve what is surely a desperate state of affairs.  But the uplifting thought is we all came together – with a vision, and with action steps.  We can, and we will keep on with our advocacy. 

Please share this report and discuss it as you see fit with your providers, your local officials, your membership, and your elected officials.  The second document attached gives you an overview of the purpose of the Think Tank. 

 I was able to share this information with the Secretary of DHHS (Dempsey Benton) and with the chairs of the Legislative Oversight Committee, with two other members of our committee (a consumer rep and a provider rep)

 We are very proud of this work and hope that it will give you some hope that our system can “recover”.
